Job Corps - Nurse Review from Troutdale, Oregon
The medical staff is no good at springdale job corps. the nurse ruth ann is abusive.one time she screamed at me for 30 minuets.
she told me i smell like ***. Screamed at me about not doing my laundry even though in lakeside hall there's only 3 washers and three dryers for 30 people.at one point some traumatic things that happened to me and she screamed in a very condescending tone of voice. to "stop acting like a little victim" at one point she asked what i had for lunch.I couldn't remember because it's all not quite edible slop. She asked this over and over like she was the bad cop in an interrogation.
then she told me i do not have any mental illness even though it was in my file. then there was jessica anderson the person in charge of the "wellness" department. In september she put me on medical leave and was absolutely gleeful about sending me back to my family that i told her was horrible. Then in march she termed me and when I asked why she mumbled something about "on the floor".
jessica anderson is no better than a nazi. She dose not care whose lives she destroys in the name of following rules and is also a coward. Also in the dorms we had a lot of a cleaning chemical designed specifically to kill tuberculosis, which is scary because the dorms are so grungy and filthy we might catch tb. the moral of the sory is steer clear of springdale job corps.
- Library
- Some good staff members
- Inexcusable behavior from residential advisors
- Abusive medical staff
Bold faced lie!
I applied for jobs corps back in November of 2016 and got accepted, was so excited about improving myself but my recruiter did nothing but lie to me in order to get me to apply. They said they were up to date facilities with wifi and even a swimming pool but when I got here it was nothing but a decommissioned, run down military base with no wifi, no pool and certainly no up to date facilities. From what I've heard the recruiters have quotas they need to fill and WILL lie to you to get you in, don't trust them unless you have nowhere left to go

All about dollars and cents. Not Students education.
- That management did not really care about the students
Job Corps Center Review
Well, I should have found these websites before signing the papers. I'm going to the Earl C.
Clemens campus in Kentucky and I'm scared shitless now.
Thanks for the reviews and I'm praying my experience isn't going to be bad. I'm sorry things like this has happened to many people who enrolled in Job Corps, and yeah; everything does look better on paper I assume.

Job Corps is a Joke
I'd like to add more about Wellness.
A friend of mine in my dorm was having a severe allergic reaction to the point that she couldn't breathe properly and said afterwards that she could feel her throat closing up. When her roommate told the RA they said they would get Ca...
The center I lived at (Clearfield, UT) had a ratio of 1 female for every 8 males, and it was considered one of the more "diverse" campuses. Every other Tuesday were the days for new female students to arrive, so it was known as "New Booty Tuesday." Every NBT, the Residential Advisors had to force large groups of boys away from the bus stop where new girls were dropped off because they would wait to "call dibs on the cute ones." These mobs would also come into the Career Prep (classes you take within your first month there) classrooms uninvited for the same reason. I had experienced stalking/harassment/catcalling firsthand and it got to the point where I didn't want to leave my dorm. Several of my friends experienced worse; one roommate being told and asked extremely inappropriate things by a guy in class. When she told him to stop, the guy persisted and threatened her and started trying to pull her jacket off. She had to leave and hide in a bathroom. All of this happened with a teacher nearby. When she reported it, staff members completely dismissed it and told her "it didn't sound like that big of an issue." I encouraged her to go over their heads to Campus Security. CS told her because she knew him and hadn't called the teacher for help (hard to do when you're being threatened), they couldn't be sure she hadn't been a "participant" in some way, and that if they expelled him (the standard punishment for harassment), they would have to expel her too. She was forced to drop it. This guy finally got expelled, but for a separate incident that got outside police involved and was bringing negative attention to the center. He had a history of harassment, fighting, and drug use (all of which are supposed to be Zero-Tolerance offenses) but he got excused with a slap on the wrist every time.
* If you have health issues/prescriptions, JC is not a good/safe place.
I had prescriptions for daily meds that needed to be refilled often. The "Wellness Center" (sort of nurse's office) not only lost my file almost every time I needed something refilled, they argued in front of me over who would pull the file this time, tried to convince me I didn't REALLY need my meds, and at one point told me they wouldn't give them to me until I met with one of their doctors to "evaluate" me. They kept telling me they had an appointment set up but never did. Every time I asked about it, they would say they had it ready but that went on for about a month until I came in one day and told them I wasn't leaving until I got my meds. There was a different worker there that day that seemed surprised and apologetic and they magically came up with my meds. Another time I went in for Tylenol and they forgot I was there. I was left in the waiting room for more than an hour and a half in severe pain before they realized I was sitting there. I could fill a book with the horror stories me and other students dealt with.
Those are my biggest complaints, but there were a lot of problems.
- Some staff were alright
- False advertising
- Harassment
- Most staff were incompetent
Job Corps Center Review from Marietta, Georgia
I was a Cincinnati Ohio Job Corps employee from 1993-**** and trust I seen it ALL. Corruption, staff predators on students other staff, misuse govt funds by staff for private use, cover up of a student's murder I could go on an on.
A prominently Black center, mostly males a racist *** Center Dir who was transferred to sunny FL to live out his days and yet run another center??
fat when the *** hit the fan about his allowance and own participation in cover ups and wrong doings. They are TOTALLY about money only an I was ousted out being one of the major players and voices who spoke up against the daily mistreatment and racism portrayed upon male Black students at this center.

Loring Job Corps Center - LJCC Review- Save Yourself from the ***!
I enrolled in Job Corps around the end of October, it was the worst decision that I've ever made in my entire life. Like most here I'm not an "at-risk" youth. I come from a good home with great parents and a great life. I graduated high school with a 3.8 and got into 5/7 colleges I applied to. I even had a few scholarships to assist me. After doing college for a year and a half I came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me. So I then decided to fast track my way into the Health Field - what I was originally going to college for. I found a quick solution: Job Corps!
My Trade
Big mistake. The first thing that happened was when I came to center is I found out the program my recruiter said was here wasn't! I had been in her office for 3-4 weeks talking about Loring's LPN program and how I could finish CNA and go straight to LPN which was offered on campus. Its not there.
My mom calls her LIVID and she does a complete 180. "I never said it was on campus, I told her she could do CNA and then transfer to Pasadega for LPN". Complete B.S.!!!! I purposely accepted Maine because she said it was one of 2 that offered LPN (lie), had many off center activities (lie), and had smaller amount of people to a room (finally some truth)! I have social anxiety and would never agree to go to a Job Corps that's known for having gangs, has 4-6 people to one room, and is in such a *** city (NY) so I called her out on her BS.
Second thing was that the 3-4 month trade took 8(!) months. CNA back home costs $200-$450 to do and takes a month. I never did it there because it's a hard working, low pay job. If I had been told it would take that long, I would've stayed home and worked for that period and have gone STRAIGHT to college. After deciding to stay for 3-4 months for CNA, the BS began. The entire first month you're in CPP which basically means you do nothing. A loooooong orientation period where you sit around and talk to staff, read packets, and have a "graduation". During CPP you also shadow your trade, in that period I went to CNA and everyone was sitting around working on packets or on their phones.
When CPP finally ends I'm told there will be a 1 week wait until a new class opens up for me to start. 1 week goes by, and then a month, and then two months, and then its vacation. EVEN AFTER RETURNING FROM VACATION, WE STILL HAD TO WAIT A MONTH!!
I finally start my *** trade and its SLOW. The instructor doesn't know what she's talking about, the kids disrupt the class all the time, and when we finally get to do our on-hands our it takes 2x the amount of time. Thank GOD I finally finish, wasted my time for complete BS but glad I can leave.
Also there are only 3 trades on this campus that can give you a real job.
The Staff & Students
Staff sleeps with students! A lot, in my 8 months here 2 RA's have gotten fired for this and a third security guard was fired for groping some females. The other staff are annoying as all ***. They stay on your back and harass you for basically nothing. You're watched 24/7 like you're in a jail cell. The only time they seem to let up is when their bosses show up. Everyone here is incompetent or a liar. If you need help with something they KNOW they can't assist you with, instead of saying so they'll talk you in an endless circle or flat out lie to you. The students aren't much better. The IQ level here seems to be set at 30 and everyone is flips out. Understandably so, no one wants to be here after a while. I've seen kids get bludgeoned with a blow dryer, get hit in the head with a smoking canister, and get concussions from a combination lock. It's best to keep to yourself on this campus unless you want to befriend ignorant inner-city kids or back-country racist white ones. Not much in-between. Also it seems like only 40% of the student population showers daily. There are 3 boys to every one girl and they harass the *** put of everyone. There was also a period where 13 girls on campus, who came in NOT Pregnant, left with a bump. This center also has a tendency to bring back students who were terminated. Be it for fighting or another safety risk. The staff let a boy who'd recently killed his girlfriend back on campus, until the cops came for him.
Also don't ever get sick on this campus, wellness is B.S. The nurses never want to do anything to help students and their answer to all problems is to give out enough Ibuprofen to knock out a whale. I had bronchitis back in the winter and came in every day for a week with a temp of 102.+ and was sent back to class. On the 6th day of not eating or being able to breath I was finally sent to the ER.
The Food
It's ***. Everything is old, moldy, or will give you swamp butt. The cheesy eggs will rip your inside to shreds and a majority of the meat tastes like it's been soaking in its own bloody brine for days. there was one day where a group I was in had a off center trip to make and we went to the café to get our bag lunches, we had to wait 15 mins for them to be remade since the rodents had gotten to them. Also fruit flies and mold in everything. If you don't call them out on it they'll try to just take it out and reserve it! I've seen this happen twice with a container of moldy shredded cheese and fruit fly infested juice. However all these problems seem to disappear as soon as OSHA or COCA come in for an inspection.
The Campus
We're near a nature reserve so if you're into that kind of thing but there is absolutely nothing to do. AT ALL! They dangle these weekly Wal-Mart trips in your face so you can behave and do the excessive slave labor they require of you so you can spend the $23.01 you get every TWO WEEKS! Oh yeah, you work like ***. Every other week you clean up the dorm. Mopping floors, dusting, sweeping, taking out trash, picking up cigarette butts, etc.
And that's 23.01 if they don't tax you, give you a write up, or dock you for the 500 BS reasons they have. Also anything can stop you from leaving center. You're out past curfew (even doing chores), NO Wal-Mart. You leave your room 1 minute after 7:30, No Wal-Mart. You fall asleep and miss chores (which is 9:30pm and 11:30pm!!), No Wal-Mart. There was an entire month where I wasn't able to get soap because they kept failing me. There is also no service on center. Only US Cellular works and that barely works. During winter you're walking through ice cold un-plowed snow and your nose hair freezes. During summer you're attacked by mosquitos and will be lucky if you get a fan.
Over all this place is trash. Everyone keeps saying if you take it seriously it'll do a lot for you but that's a lie. I put in 150% into this place and got a CNA license out of it. I wish I hadn't wasted my time and I hope this review saves you some of yours.
- Nature vibe
- Chicken nuggets
- Constant change in regulations
- False advertising
- Lack of tangible information
This place needs to have a warning lable before going here,
I went into this *** hole back in the 80's before we had the Internet, The person who conned me at the job service, That's how I found out about this, She made it sound like it was a good thing, a positive thing and she made sound so cool, That was a *** dirty lie. My experience was, It was nothing but a reform school, It was one step below being in the military, And one step above from being in prison, After your there 6 months, You get the chance to leave, They give you your bus ticket and go home for 14 days, But if you go back your stuck there until you graduate, And that could be another 12 to 18 months, At the end of my 14 day's I didn't go back, I did get a letter saying I was AWOL and had terminated my enrollment in the center, It was rough when I was there, I would hate to see how bad it has gotten since then,

I agree with you and understand what your going through I went to Miami Job Corps and they have done that to me and countless other students. They will put you on "Medical Leave" then when you jump through all the obstacles to return they lie and falsify documents and say you cannot return.
Its like they take pleasure in demeaning and ridiculing you. The whole wellness department is a JOKE. I had a medical emergency it took over a hour for the actual nurse Ms.Alice Jean Charles to come and then they did not want to take me to the hospital. My family member had to take me and when I returned the next day the Center Director Mary Geoghegan told be I didn't need to be there and to move off campus and go stay with my family instead.
If a medical emergency happens to you they will not call 911 another student or somebody off campus will have to call for you because the staff will not cause it cost the center money. Then they will try to intimidate you into being scared of the staff Mr. Leeks (Dean) threatened me when I made a report he lied and said it never happened.
I could go on about the horrible things that I have witnessed and that have happened to me but it would take forever. All Job Corps need to be shut down there is corruption from state to state, program to program.
I agree with you on medical. I was at Timberlake and Treasure Island.
My private doctor wanted to see me because of a lung infection and was told no. They refused to honor patient bill of rights and responsibilities and the need to know basis.
I was also raped by a staff member and a student and told that it was my fault and deserved it. I hope that all job corps get shut down.
Then stop smelling like an ***.
And you are making some serious accusations including personal libel.
You'd better watch it before you get served some court papers by a big company who has lawyers and an endless cash supply who will, absolutely, drive you into the ground.
